WHAT NOT TO DO IN AN ESCAPE GAME

There are key strategies to successfully escaping one of our three rooms; however, people don’t always tell you what you shouldn’t do in an escape game.

Take over the game. If you’re on a roll in the room, it’s easy to take over and start yelling out suggestions, but then the game isn’t fun for anyone else. You are part of a team, so let your other teammates have a go at the different clues available to everyone instead of making them feel left out.

Use force. The clues are carefully placed so that you can handle them properly. There is no need for you to kick down any doors and try to grab anything off a wall.

Be bossy. No one wants to hear someone ordering them around. Escape games are just that, a game. If you’re being domineering, your teammates won’t enjoy themselves and end up resenting you, too.

Overthink. The solutions to our clues are simple; you don’t need an advanced degree to solve them. Think strategically when you’re in the escape room and look at the big picture.

Let others overwhelm you. Take each clue one at a time instead of trying to solve everything at once. If you don’t know the answers and you’re listening to everyone else’s suggestions, it can be easy to feel like you’re under pressure. Although there is a timer, don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it! Remember: Escape games are supposed to be fun.
